Bayit Afterschool

Bayit is a "home" where teachers help children explore Jewish identities and develop Hebrew skills and offers an opportunity for Jewish learning engagement for families who might not otherwise explore these options in traditional environments.

Location: Evanston , Illinois
Year founded: 2013

Founded in Fall 2013, Evanston’s Bayit brings together a diverse community of Jewish kids and families through a welcoming, convenient, fun and camp-like afterschool “home.” Our mission is to enrich children and their families by bringing Jewish values and traditions to daily life through experiential, Hebrew-infused learning. Our accessible approach offers families in our area guidance and support in creating meaningful Jewish experiences. Bayit fills a gap by immersing children ages 4-10 in exploration of Jewish identity while simultaneously offering needed, high-quality afterschool childcare for busy families. Our innovative curriculum, which is guided by models in Berkeley and Washington, DC, is totally new to Evanston, where we reach out to a diverse group of families.
