The West Side Shkola is guided by principals of experiential learning and family engagement, enacting a curriculum that is deeply rooted in Jewish traditions, values, and history, and give an opportunity to the children and families to explore their Jewish cultures and preserve their unique Russian Jewish identity. West Side Shkola at Congregation Ansche Chesed will be a place of authentic and creative Jewish learning for the Russian Speaking children and their families, a place of caring community and self-discovery. Our students will explore their Jewish heritage and Hebrew language, and will be inspired to share the joy of learning with their families at home and through opportunities for intergenerational study at Shkola and at Ansche Chesed. With the help of talented bilingual teachers, Russian language skills of our students will be supported and developed, fostering a sense of confidence and pride in their multi-faceted Jewish-American-Russian identity.
