Limmud AZ 2016

We are a volunteer organization that works together to create this great day of community and learning. Last year was our inaugural event. We had 42 presenters (from all over including Israel) and over 400 people attended and enjoyed Limmud AZ.
Location: Scottsdale , AZ
Year founded: 2013

Description

Limmud AZ is a community Jewish education program that includes Jews from all denominations. It is a one day celebration of Jewish life and learning.  We are associated with Limmud International and Limmud programs all over the world.  We are passionate about bringing a diverse community of Jews together to learn and share from each other. We are looking for grant funding in order to maintain a low cost and quality program for our community.

Taste of Limmud AZ

About

Limmud AZ is an annual full day program. We would like to add a smaller program at another time of the year called A Taste of Limmud AZ. Many Limmuds around the world do similar programs to enhance their audience and keep people involved in the Limmud mission.

Taste of Limmud AZ would include a few presenters or just one big presenter and would be held during an evening or a Sunday afternoon.

What is the mission and purpose of this program?

Mission is to keep people involved in Limmud AZ throughout the year and create awareness of our overarching mission to those who have not participated in the past. Because this is a shorter program, " a taste" may attract some who have been reluctant to dedicate a whole day to Jewish learning with Limmud AZ.

Program Description

A Taste of Limmud AZ would be a 2 to 3-hour program and include childcare and children's programming. It would be open to the entire community and would be held at a different venue than our usual conference which is held at ASU Conference Center. We would offer 2 to 3 sessions with different presenters. There would be a community reception included. We would expect pricing to be fairly nominal for this event if we have funding to underwrite it.

Demonstrated Need

We have been asked often why Limmud AZ is only one day a year. There is an interest in the community for more of this type of interactive classes. Other Limmud programs around the world are offering very successful smaller "Taste of Limmud" programs along with their main conferences.

Program Accomplishments

We are about to complete our 3rd annual conference on February 12, 2017. Attendance has been encouraging and we find that each year there are people who want to teach/present once they have been to Limmud AZ and seen the quality of the programming and the interest in it. The most notable thing is that Limmud AZ offers so many classes with varied and interesting topics that we get complaints because attendees have a hard time choosing which session to attend.

How do you measure the success of your program?

We measure the conference with evaluations: immediately at the end of each session; by email with Survey Monkey to attendees; and by email with Survey Monkey to our presenters. We have had over 50% return rate on the online survey each year and the responses have been overwhelmingly positive. We use critical responses to make changes in the program for the next year.
