Description

Video Activism is an organization that builds professional Israel advocates with the capability to combat anti-Zionism/anti-Semitism via video and social media and simultaneously strengthening a connection to Israel, Jewish identity and the Jewish people.

Anti-Semitism, often masked as anti-Zionism, and assimilation are the major threats facing the Jewish people. World Jewry in large, is not proactive in fighting anti-Semitism/anti-Zionism and are either unaware or uninterested in the threat of assimilation.  Video Activism is the organization that combats both issues in one amazing internship.  Video Activism runs multiple 2 - 6 week internships in Israel specially designed to fight for the Jewish people on both fronts via professional courses in media production, Israel advocacy and Jewish Identity.

Media Production - Professional media course including training in script writing, filming video editing, after effects, marketing and distribution.

Israel Advocacy - Courses include Israel advocacy theory, market segmentation, research and practical application.

Jewish Identity - World class instruction in Ulpan, Jewish history, Jewish philosophy and Jewish ethics.

Our trips are Ideal for any young Jews ages 18-30 who pro-Israel and would like to make make a difference and learn invaluable media skills.

Program Description

The overall breakdown of our program is above. Young people, particularly students are facing unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. This negatively impacts upon their connection to Israel and their Jewish identity. The best response is to be positive, learn, create and tell a story. Video activism benefits our participants and anyone they come into contact with on social media.

Demonstrated Need

Nearly 75% of college students experience anti-Semitism on campus in the United States and Canada (http://www.ibtimes.com/anti-semitism-campus-most-jewish-students-feel-discriminated-against-new-study-finds-2027557) In Europe anti-Semitism is far worse. Generally this anti-Semitism is in the guise of anti-Zionism. We are a program that strengthens Jewish pride and enables our participants to fight back.

Program Accomplishments

Last year Video Activism took a major leap forward. We partnered with Onward Israel (Jewish Agency) becoming a 6-week fellowship program. We brought 14 college students from 4 countries on our trip to fight anti-Semitism, connect to the Jewish people and Israel. As to date Video Activism has has educated well over 500 young Jews and guided students to produce in excess of 600 videos. Many of our participants' videos have reached thousands of views on Youtube and Facebook; one student video reached over 100,000 views in less than a week. Some of our students have gone on to bigger and better things thanks to our training. For example, one created an Israel Advocacy organization on UCF called "Knights for Israel." Another landed a job making videos for CAMERA. A few have even ended up working for Video Activism itself, including full time video editors, madrichot and senior interns.

How do you measure the success of your program?

We measure our success in two broad categories. Firstly, the development of each participant. Secondly, by the quality and quantity of content they produce. In 2009, Video Activism began as a one day seminar, teaching hundreds of students. In 2013, we progressed to become a 3 week half-day internship, teaching students advanced video and Israel advocacy skills. In 2015, we partnered with the Jewish Agency to create a 6-week all inclusive fellowship in Israel for 14 international college students. Our program education included Israel advocacy, movie production, social media marketing, Jewish identity, trips and more. In 2016, with the help of Natan, we hope to have a 7-week all inclusive life experience for 30 international college students. We believe every year we are more and more successful. Thank you for your patience!
