College graduates tend to have the most influential impact on the shape and direction of American society. By promoting Jewish values and culture. Chabad at U of A goes a long way toward ensuring that these future leaders will stand up as supporters and advocates for Israel and Jewish causes.
With the mission to open the door of Judaism to all Jewish students on the University of Arizona campus, we have established The U of A Chabad House, a place where Jews of all backgrounds and degrees of observance can enjoy exploring their Jewish heritage in a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Chabad has created a home-away-from-home for the 4,000 Jewish students at the U of A!
Since its inception in 2005, U of A Chabad has been hosting its Shabbat dinners and events in a temporary tent. Each week, over 100 students join Rabbi Yossi & Naomi and their wonderful family for a five course, free Shabbat dinner. The enthusiastic students' response to Chabad’s programs and presence on campus has made it apparent that what they crave is a comprehensive Jewish Student Center that will enrich their lives during their four years away from home.
With support from parents, alumni and a matching grant from the Rohr family foundation, we are happy to announce that we broke ground on a 6,000 sq. ft. Chabad house. We are still $400,000 away from our goal and with your support, compassion, vision, and generosity you can make the dream of 4,000 Jewish students at the U of A a reality!
