CIPEMU

All my life I worked for the Jewish Community, not by default (I am a well known psychologist) bue because I do believe the answer for many problems we face as assimilation and others can have a solution if we are together and stan up for Judaism in an optimistic, happy and modern way.

Year founded: 2003

Description

CIPEMU was created 11 years ago in order to become the JCC of the Eastern region of Uruguay and attend also the tourists who come from Argentina and Brazil during the holydays (it may get to 35000 jews in january and february). I am the executive director of CIPEMU and I am already 20 years working for the Jewish Community all around the world. The main reason to apply for this grant is that Natan already helped our Community almost 3 years ago when we decided to créate a youth movement. Nowadays it is an amazing reality with 40 children who receive non formal jewish education every week (the first big effort came from Natan and inspired CIPEMU leaders to move on with this Project) and now we want (and we need) to develop the idea and go further by inspiring the families of these kids take part in a Shabat experience that we want to start imediately and will last for one year. The shabat experience is set to start as soon as the activities finish on friday and it is about sharing a Cabalat Shabat and Kidush at the same time than  a strong social gathering every friday. Through this, we expect to engage the whole family in one of the most important practices in Judaism.
